Last year I spent few days in Paris just before Christmas and the city of the light was looking even a bit more wonderful than at any other time of the year. The streets, shopping centers, shop windows and monuments dress up to show their best and make you feel all the Christmas spirit.
One of the most impressive decorations every year is the one at the Lafayette Galleries. In 2014 they hung upside down a huge Christmas tree of lights in the Beauty department that you could see from all the floors. Its shop windows also are one the most visited places this time of the year for tourists and locals; there are always queues to have a look at the thematic spaces. In 2014 it was all about cuddly monsters, a bit childish but full of fantasy, movement and festive season joy. These galleries are definitely one of the best spots of Christmas in Paris.
If we talk about shop windows, France’s capital has another two shopping centers that congregate a lot of visitors too at the end of the year: Printemps (next to Lafayette Galleries) and Le Bon Marche (on the left side of the river or Rive gauche as they say in French) The last one’s deco was inspired by Santa Claus and the reindeers with a lot of movement and music all around its shop windows.
Moreover no one can’t miss wandering around the Place Vendome, with all its luxury jewelry shops and hotels and usually a very big Christmas tree (that year wasn’t that big because of the refurbishing of a hotel in the square)
Another must seen Christmas deco spot are the Champs Elysees and the Avenue George V, where you can see beautiful shop windows at great luxury stores like Louis Vuitton, that try to surprise with new ideas every year.
Finally, but not the last place to see is Paris’ most visited monument, the Eiffel Tower, that always looks beautiful. I was lucky to take some shots from the Champs de Mars with almost no tourists in a foggy night and the great lighting of the tower wit thousands of lights.

El año pasado tuve la suerte de poder disfrutar de unos días en París, justo antes de Navidad. En esas fechas la ciudad de la luz está aún más espectacular que en cualquier otra época del año. Las calles, centros comerciales, escaparates y los monumentos se engalanan para enseñar su mejor cara y hacerte sentir todo el espíritu navideño.
Una de las decoraciones más impresionantes de cada año es la que preparan en las Galerías Lafayette. En 2014 colocaron boca abajo un árbol de Navidad enorme de luces sobre el departamento de belleza, que se podía ver desde todas las plantas. También sus escaparates son uno de los destinos preferidos por turistas y locales en esta época del año; siempre hay colas para echar un vistazo a sus míticas vitrinas. Ese año la temática estaba basada en ventanas con monstruos de peluche, un poco infantiles, pero llenos de fantasía, movimiento y de alegría festiva. Estas galerías son uno de los mejores lugares que se pueden visitar en París en Navidad.
Y si hablamos de escaparates, la capital francesa tiene otros dos centros comerciales que también reciben muchos visitantes a finales de año: Printemps (al lado de las Gallerías Lafayette) y Le Bon Marche (en la orilla izquierda del río o River Gauche como dicen los franceses) La inspiración de este último cuando yo lo visité eran Papá Noel y sus renos, con mucho movimiento y música en todos sus ventanales.
Además, algo que todo el mundo debe hacer es perderse por la Plaza Vendome, con todas sus joyerías de lujo, hoteles y normalmente un árbol de Navidad enorme (que ese año no era tan grande debido a las obras de reforma de un hotel de la plaza)
Otros de los destinos navideños por excelencia son los Campos Elíseos y la Avenida George V, donde puedes encontrar preciosos escaparates de tiendas de lujo como Louis Vuitton, que se engalanan para la ocasión con sorprendentes ideas cada año.
Finalmente, pero no el último lugar que ver, estaría el monumento más visitado de París, la Torre Eiffel, que siempre luce preciosa. Tuve la suerte de sacar algunas fotos desde el Campo de Marte con muy pocos turistas en una noche de niebla, en las que torre luce fantástica con miles de luces intermitentes.

This striking yellow could not be the easiest one unless is proper Summer and you are super tanned, although I’m a big fun of bright colours for the whole year. The best trick for cold weather is mixing them with plain darker garments or all shades of grey, that will help the outfit to be a bit more subtle.
